Wendy's Baconator

The commercial Baconator and the real one. Can you guess which is which?

Wendy's fast food chain refers to their Baconator as 'the greatest burger'. But is it really? Let's find out what's in the meat they feed us.

Firstly, let's look at the amount of calories.

840 calories, WOW! That's a lot higher than most of Wendy's other burgers (save a few, such as the Triple w/Everything and Cheese), with each patty being 200 calories and the bacon strips being 15 calories each!

Now let's look at the cheese (in my opinion, the best part of the burger). It's made with two slices of American cheese, with... oh my gosh, can that be true? IT HAS 70 CALORIES PER SLICE!

Now, let's look at the sauces. Each tablespoon of ketchup contains 10 calories. Okay, not that surprising. Each 1 1/2 tablespoons contains about 40 calories each. Again, not that surprising, since it's mayo (even though it does have more calories than two slices of bacon).

Now for the "final" known ingredient: the "premium" buns. It apparently has 160 calories.

Now let's look at the fats. (Lame joke here)

Each patty has 14 grams of fat, 6 grams of saturated fat and 1 gram of trans fat.
Each bacon slice: 1 gram of fat, nothing else surprisingly.
Each slice of cheese: 15 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat
Each tablespoon of ketchup: El zilcho
Each 1 1/2 tablespoon of mayo: 3.5 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat
Each "premium" bun: 2 grams of fat and that's it.
Which comes to a total of: (may be seem off because of the amount of each added) 51 grams of fat, 23 grams of saturated fat and 2.5 grams of trans fat.

Go here to find out the amount of cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates and protein for each item!

Many people don't like the Baconator. Here are just a few quotes:
"Since when fast food burgers ever look like their advertised counter part?"

"Fast food is bad for you. Cook at home. Don't eat burgers."

And there are many more! (Source)

Here are a few funny warning labels that a few people made up about the baconators:

"Chuck Norris had trouble finishing a Baconator."

"You may feel chest pains while consuming the Baconator."

"People over the age to 65 should not eat the Baconator."

"Nursing or pregnant woman should not come in contact with the Baconator."

And (not so) many more. (Source)

So, eat the Baconator at your own risk. If you value your life, don't eat the Baconator. It's a Bacon double cheeseburger, after all!

Note: I am not trying to lessen the sales of Baconators.
